NOTE- MOST PRINTS ARE MUCH SHARPER, WITH BETTER COLOR & SATURATION. WE MAY
BE HAVING AN EBAY CAUSED ERROR: POOR SHARPNESS, COLOR, & RESOLUTION PROBLEMS
WITH THE PHOTO YOU SEE HERE. WE ARE WAITING FOR EBAY TO FIX THIS***
This is a quality unmounted giclee photo from an original Velvia transparency
printed with archival ink in the 35mm 'full frame' format*** on 8.5 x 11 inch
Epson pro photo paper of a 35 foot (Hawaiian measurement) Waimea Bay closeout
wave January 28, 1998,Haleiwa, north Oahu, Hawaii by longtime Hawaii
professional surfing photographer Bill Romerhaus. It was one of the biggest
days seen in the past several decades at Waimea Bay. This 35-40 foot (Hawaiian)
monster broke almost all the way across the bay. This was called 'Big
Wednesday' by the younger crowd but the first one was in the early 1960's and
there may have been a few more since. There were more bigger waves on this day.
It was shot on transparency film, cropped, and has the photographer's name in
the lower corner (may be hard to see here but you can see on print) and has
photography and preservation tips included in the label on the back.
Please note that this was printed on 8.5 x 11 inch paper and has a thin
black line and light green margin around the photo which is part of the print
not a cutout (see photo), so you can see the actual image size is smaller but
it is printed on a full sheet of paper. It is also a little grainy as it was
shot on 35mm Velvia transparency film and push processed, it is still a
dramatic and artistic image. It would make a great holiday or birthday gift for
someone who likes this area or historic surfing images of Hawaii. They are
popular reasonably priced decorations for restaurants, offices, homes, or
stores where people can see them.
Waimea Bay is one the largest surf breaks in the world. It is also home of the
Eddie Aikau Memorial Big Wave Surfing contest only held when the waves are at
least 25 foot high. Waimea waves are some of the most powerful on earth,
generated by far distant North Pacific Ocean storms during the winter months
Sept-March). They are an incredible example of the ocean's mightiness. It has
been said that one wave this size if harnessed for energy could provide enough
electrical power to light a thousand homes for over an hour. Native Hawaiians,
surfers, and a lot of oriental people consider these magnificent waves to be a
supreme example of power and manifested with the spirit of mother nature. To
actually see these waves breaking along the shoreline is an awesome, humbling,
and unforgettable experience.
We're proud to mention that many of our photos were used as background artwork
in the new CBS television network series "Magnum P.I." "Hawaii 5-0". and
NETLFLIX "Finding Oahana'. Our original photos are very popular and affordable
to local people and tourists visiting Hawaii, as well as people who have never
visited Hawaii and production costs are lower than most folks so we want to
offer affordable quality art for people who might not otherwise be able to
afford it. We feel we are preserving and promoting the history and culture of
Hawaii to Kama'aina, visitors, and other folks at a reasonable price to display
or share with others. With proper care it the manufacturer says it should last
many years without fading if you carefully follow display instructions included
on the label on the back of the print.

Velvia transparency film, and does not look as sharp as a digital photo, please
be aware of this, but it is still a beautiful artistic image. ***It is printed
in the full frame 35mm format unmounted on a full sheet of 8.5x11 photo paper
and includes margins which are part of the print. Please be aware of this.An
