I AM PUTTING UP FOR AUCTION, MANY OF OUR TREASURES THAT WE HAVE COLLECTED OVER OUR YEARS TOGETHER THAT HAVE ALWAYS BEEN PRECIOUS TO US - IN THIS CASE -
An EXQUISITE set of FIVE (5) DESSERT/HORS D'OEURES UTENSILS, Louis XV style, 1898- 1901.
This exquisite set of five (5) . . . yes there are 5 utensils.  This set usually only comes with four utensils, but this one has five, & our research may give us a hint as to why there are 5 utensils in this one.  As best we can find, this unique set was made between 1898-1901, in Paris, France, & retailed by Maison Artault et Ducleroir, in the style of Louis XV, French Regency period. Each piece bears the French "Minerve" hallmark indicating "premier titre" or 950/1000 parts quality silver, the highest quality of French sterling silver used in Paris since 1838.
The set is comprised of a cheese server/spatula & a fish fork made by Edouard Ernie, a master Parisian silversmith & tableware specialist, 1882-1901.  His makers mark, which is on each of the two pieces he made is two capital "E"s separated by a "gaiter" & topped with a star (picture #8).
The other three pieces include a pierced strawberry spoon, a cheese knife, & a pierced server.  These pieces were made by the Parisian master silversmiths, Page Frères or "Page Brothers". Their makers mark is of a "P" followed by a
gaiter" topped by a star & separated from the letters "Fres". This mark was registered in 1901 & then cancelled in 1905.
The upper parts of each of the utensils have a lovely foliage repoussé design with piercing where necessary for draining olives or fruit.  This same design technique is carried down onto the handles with the addition of a clover flower, ribbon, & bow (photos #4, 5, & 6 for detail).
The fact that this unique set of five silver serving pieces was made by two different master silversmiths in the 19th century is a conversation starter all on its own!  Master silversmith Edouard Ernie set up his workshop at 7 rue Reaumur in the Marais Quarter of Paris in the late 1800's & was successful there until 1901 when Page Freres (the Page Brothers) took over the space from 1901 until 1905.  Since these five serving pieces retain the same design & quality, one can assume that an agreement was reached between the two parties who partnered in creating this unique set.
This lovely ANTIQUE "FRENCH STERLING SILVER DESSERT HORS D'OEURVE SET OF 5 PIECES" is in EXCELLENT ANTIQUE CONDITION with minor scratches typical of normal use & comes in its original red velvet lined gift box, which is in good condition, given its age of over 120 years.

CONDITION
Many of my items are vintage & fairly aged; accordingly, there may be some issues with individual pieces that are associated with the passage of time.  Each piece is gently used & may exhibit minor glitter loss and/or paint anomalies due to the vintage quality of the item.  
I have looked each of them over to detect any major flaws Any serious damage, fading or discoloration that I can perceive will be disclosed; however small flaws (i.e. imperfections in the glaze/paint, a slipped stitch, etc.) may be missed.
ALL OF MY COLLECTIONS HAVE BEEN STORED IN A TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT IN OUR SMOKE-FREE, PET-FRIENDLY HOME.
